About the Film

Anna is 60, and her acting heyday is now behind her. She lives on her own, but has a friend and confidant in her downstairs neighbor Michel, who is also single. Reluctantly, Anna accepts a job as a language coach for 17-year-old Adrian who has a speech impediment and is something of a misfit. She recognizes him as the boy who recently snatched her handbag in the street.
After her breakout with Wild, Nicolette Krebitz presented A E I O U – A Quick Alphabet of Love, featuring strong yet subtle performances from Sophie Rois and Udo Kier, at the main competition of the 2022 Berlin Film Festival. The film challenges norms of age discrimination in the arts, as well as in romantic relations, and invites the audience to share the main character’s newly found joy of living. Krebitz presents a playful, hope-inspiring narrative that reminds us that life is full of possibilities.
