I Want To Talk About Duras

About the Film
A man involved in a passionate relationship with a celebrated writer of 30 years his senior needs to talk. He is fascinated by her, and yet he feels he just cannot go on anymore. He opens up, in an attempt to put into words the intensity of his love. The young man who wants to talk is Yann Andréa, the woman is Marguerite Duras, and the journalist listening to the young man is Michèle Manceaux.
Adapted from recordings of a 1982 conversation between Manceaux and Andréa, the film illustrates the ups and downs of a difficult relationship through the dialog between the two figures. In her new feature film that competed at the 2021 San Sebastian Film Festival, Claire Simon takes a fresh look at the great artist Duras, while proving that there is fertile ground to be explored in cinema through profound writing and top-tier acting performances.
