About the Film

Dovile’s life is shaken by her father’s death. But there is no time to mourn, as she must urgently organize the funeral. Trying to make it perfect, Dovile takes care of every detail and finds herself in increasingly curious situations. Her childhood memories are chasing her up.

Departing from her own father’s loss and naming the main character after herself, director Dovilė Šarutytė conveys to the audience the universal sense of loss and mourning that spans cultures. Having made its world premiere at the 2021 Talinn Black Nights Film Festival, A Feature Film About Life is a drama that manages to be striking without being melodramatic, as it meticulously depicts the wide spectrum of emotions that follow loss.
