Born in 1973 in İzmir, Onur Ünlü graduated from the Anadolu University Faculty of Communication Sciences Department of Communication Arts. He earned his master’s degree at the Marmara University Faculty of Communication Department of Communication Sciences. Between 1993-1998, he wrote poetry under the pen name of Ah Muhsin Ünlü; his poetry was compiled in the book Gidiyorum Bu. After making several short films, in 1999, he made his start in television with the series Deli Yürek, which he wrote, and played a small role in. In 2006, he wrote, produced and directed Police, his debut feature film. He directed such popular titles as Leyla and Mecnun, Güneşin Oğlu, Beş Şehir, Şubat, Thou Gild’st the Even, The Extreme Tragic Story of Celal Tan and His Family, Ben de Özledim, Let’s Sin, Beş Kardeş, Kırık Kalpler Bankası and Aşkın Gören Gözlere İhtiyacı Yok, many of which he also wrote. Ünlü wrote the screenplays for the films Uzaklarda Arama and Love, Bitter.
